H جون जों joṅ, जौं jauṅ जूं jūṅ [Prk. जवडु (by change of ḍ to n), fr. जेव, fr. S. यावत्], adv. As, like; when (=jo and jab, q.v.):—jon-toṅ, adv. As before, in statu quo; in some way or other, anyhow:—joṅ-toṅ karke, jon-tyoṅ kar or karke, adv. By some means or other, by any means, somehow, anyhow; as it could be done; with much difficulty:—joṅ-joṅ, jūṅ-jūṅ, adv. As; as far as, as long as; as by degrees;—joṅ-kā toṅ, jūṅ-kī tūṅ, adj. & adv. Unaltered, untouched, perfect, whole, the very same;—as originally, as it was, in statu quo, the same as ever, precisely the same; as in fact, as in reality:—joṅ-kā toṅ rakhnā, v.t. To preserve or keep unaltered; to let alone; to keep safe and sound; to maintain intact, to uphold:—joṅ-kar, adv. As, like; as possible, in any way:—joṅ-lag, adv.=jab-lag, q.v.s.v. jab:—joṅ-hī, joṅ-hīṅ, adv. The very moment that, just as soon as, no sooner; just as fast as; exactly as if.

A louse;—a thing as small as a louse; a tittle:—jūṅ paṛnā (-meṅ), To become lousy:—jūṅ dikhānā, To get one to hunt for lice:—jūṅ dekhnā, To hunt for lice, to louse:—jūṅ-kī ćāl, s.f. Very slow or creeping motion:—jūṅ-kī ćāl ćalnā, To creep along:—jūṅʼeṅ (or jūʼeṅ) mārnā, lit. 'To kill lice'; to trifle, dilly-dally, dawdle:—jūṅ-muṅhā, adj. lit. 'Small-mouthed'; smooth-tongued, hypocritical:—marī jūṅ, s.f. lit. 'A dead louse'; a slow, heavy person; a lifeless or inanimate person; a sluggard.
