Circumstances make or
unmake us. We are subjected to them in our day-to-day lives. As human nature goes, we do not remember good circumstances that make us but mostly the bad circumstances that unmake us. We have made a selection here of verses that broadly consider bad circumstances which, somehow, add some meaning to our lives.
sub.h hote hī nikal aate haiñ bāzār meñ log
gaThriyāñ sar pe uThā.e hue īmanoñ kī
subh hote hi nikal aate hain bazar mein log

hālāt se ḳhauf khā rahā huuñ
shīshe ke mahal banā rahā huuñ
haalat se KHauf kha raha hun
shishe ke mahal bana raha hun
ye dhuup to har ruḳh se pareshān karegī
kyuuñ DhūñD rahe ho kisī dīvār kā saaya
ye dhup to har ruKH se pareshan karegi
kyun DhunD rahe ho kisi diwar ka saya
bachchoñ ke saath aaj use dekhā to dukh huā
un meñ se koī ek bhī maañ par nahīñ gayā
bachchon ke sath aaj use dekha to dukh hua
un mein se koi ek bhi man par nahin gaya
mire hālāt ko bas yuuñ samajh lo
parinde par shajar rakkhā huā hai
mere haalat ko bas yun samajh lo

agar badal na diyā aadmī ne duniyā ko
to jaan lo ki yahāñ aadmī kī ḳhair nahīñ
agar badal na diya aadmi ne duniya ko
to jaan lo ki yahan aadmi ki KHair nahin
jam.a kartī hai mujhe raat bahut mushkil se
sub.h ko ghar se nikalte hī bikharne ke liye
jama karti hai mujhe raat bahut mushkil se
subh ko ghar se nikalte hi bikharne ke liye

ranj-o-ġham kī gard meñ lipTā har ik chehra milā
