A Story to remember
hasrat
Harmonious celebrations of traditions and culture hold our country together. Not many other anecdotes would illustrate this syncretic culture of India better than the anecdote from the life of Maulana Hasrat Mohani, a poet who practically personified Indian values of celebratory cultural co-existence. Qazi Abdul Abbasi Writes:
"I saw Hasrat wandering around in colour-soaked clothes on the eve of Holi. I asked in amazement, “What's this, Maulana?” He replied, "Dr. Murari Lal's wife splashed colours on me." Well, anyone might have encountered the same, but what's rather interestingly striking is the fact that Maulana wore this colour-stained dress over the next few days and he routinely offered namaaz also in the same.
