H کهاتا खाता khātā [prob. S. क्षत+कः, or i.q. khātā, 'eating'], s.m. Ledger or day-book (of a merchant or banker, &c.), account-book, waste-book; daily account, account-current:—khātā-bandī, s.f. An abstract of individual accounts:—khātā-bahī, s.f. The book framed from the day-book, containing the distinct accounts of individuals:—khātā ḍālnā, To open an account with:—khātā karnā (-ko), To enter or post (an account); to adjust (accounts):—khāte-bāqī, s.f. Balance of an account:—khāte paṛnā, v.n. To be entered in an account or in a ledger:—gāl-khātā, s.m. Irrecoverable balance.

H کهاتا खाता khātā [imperf. part. of khānā; and=Prk. खादंतओ, खाअंतओ; S. खादत्+अ+कः], part. adj. & s.m. (f. -ī), Eating; consuming;—expensive, costly;—who or what eats or consumes, &c.; eater;—the act of eating, &c.:—khātā-pītā, adj. 'Eating and drinking'; in easy circumstances, well-off, flourishing:—khāte-pīte lāteṅ ćalānā or mārnā, To be ungrateful in the midst of abundance; to quarrel with one's bread and butter.
