H شولا शोला śolā, vulg. solā [prob. S. शालिकः], s.m. The aquatic plant Ӕschynomene aspera or Hedysarum lagenarium (a large perennial water-plant, abundant in tanks and marshes between Calcutta and Hardwār, with thick stems mainly composed of light white pith, which is made into floats, toys, artificial flowers, models of temples, &c., bottle-cases, stopples or corks, and hats,—anglice, 'Solar ṭopīs,'—invaluable as a protection against the sun).
