Why learn Urdu?

Urdu is a language of endearment. A jewel of a language, it has grown over eight centuries in courts and marketplaces. It has enriched both the speakers and the listeners and touched lives from emperors to commoners. 

Urdu found its way in the lovelorn hearts of poets, Meer and Ghalib, as it does in yours today. It inspired writers and revolutionaries then, as it stimulates you now. Urdu is a way of speaking in style; it is the other name for the magic of language and magnificence of message.

A symbol of India’s composite culture, its ganga-jamuni tehzeeb, Urdu leaves an indelible mark in our hearts. It thrives in discourses and dialogues, films and fairs, courts and counsels, mushairas and markets, teaching and learning, pairing and compering.

Why Aamozish for Learning Urdu?

Despite their keenness to learn the Urdu language, willing learners find it difficult to pursue their interest because of the non-availability of proper courses. Even if they find one, they are unable to negotiate between the heavy demand of the course and the paucity of their own time.

Rekhta, being the world’s largest website of Urdu language, literature and culture, has taken itupon itself to facilitate the learning of this language. It has created a unique and free-of-cost online platform where you may just login and start learning how to read and write Urdu.

We have with us a set of identified Urdu linguists, teachers, and scholars who have constructed Aamozish, which appropriately enough spells out our purpose­—“to learn.” Aamozish comes equipped with carefully graded modules with detailed units and fun quizzes to make this process interesting and easy.

What should you expect from it?

We aim to build your expertise in reading the Urdu script. Starting from simple words, you will be able to read and write your own paragraphs by the end of our course.  The objective is to make you adept within the shortest possible time so that you may directly read your favourite Urdu poets and writers.
