راہی معصوم رضا ،شاعر و ادیب ہونے کے ساتھ ساتھ گنگا جمنی تہذیب کے علم بردار بھی تھے،بالی ووڈ سے بھی تعلق رہا،مختلف سیرئیل اور فلموں کے لیے ڈائیلاگ لکھے۔یہ ان کا ناول آدھا گاؤں ہےجس میں ہند-پاکستان کی تقسیم کا درد، فسادات کے لمحات اور سماجی و سیاسی مسائل کو موضوع بنایا گیا۔یہ ناول ہندی میں لکھا گیا تھا جو ۱۹۶۶ میں شائع ہوا۔راہی معصوم کی وفات کے بعد ان کے دوست کنورپال سنگھ نے ۲۰۰۳ میں اسے اردو میں شائع کروایا،اردو ایڈیشن کے ترجمہ نگار اسلم جمشیدپوری ہیں۔
Rahi Masoom Raza was born on 1st Aug 1927 in Gangauli village located in ghazipur district of Uttar Pradesh. Raza completed his early education in and around ghazipur and then went to Aligarh Muslim University to complete higher studies. He completed a doctorate in Hindustani Literature and pursued a career in literature. He later moved to Bombay and became a successful screenplay writer and wrote the screenplays and dialogues for over 300 films including a TV serial Mahabharat. Several of Raza's works vividly depict the agony and turmoil of the consequences of the partition of India. They also depict life in feudal India and the ordinary happiness, love, pain, and sadness of ordinary people. Some of his important works include Adha Gaon (Novel), Topi Shukla (Novel), Os ki boond (Novel), Neem ka Ped (Novel and TV serial), Main Tulsi tere aangan kii( script writing), Mahabharata (TV serial) etc. He had also won the filmfare Best award for film Main Tulsi Tere Aangan Ki in 1979. He died in Mumbai on 15th March 1992 in Mumbai.
