apna to chahaton mein yahi ek usul hai
apnā to chāhatoñ meñ yahī ik usuul hai
terā bhalā-burā hameñ sab kuchh qubūl hai
ye umr-bhar kā jāgnā be-kār hī na jaa.e
to naañ milā to saarī riyāzat fuzūl hai
ḳhud hī kahā thā tū ne mirī jaan chhoḌ de
ab chhoḌ dī to kyuuñ tirā chehra malūl hai
ai maañ ye merī shohrateñ merī ye izzateñ
kuchh bhī nahīñ hai bas tire qadmoñ kī dhuul hai
aa.ī jo terī yaad to āñkheñ baras paḌīñ
is vaqt tere dard kā dil par nuzūl hai
ik dūsre ke vāste donoñ bane 'vasī'
gul-dān merā dil hai tirī yaad phuul hai

ai man ye meri shohraten meri ye izzaten
kuchh bhi nahin hai bas tere qadmon ki dhul hai
aai jo teri yaad to aankhen baras paDin
is waqt tere dard ka dil par nuzul hai
ek dusre ke waste donon bane 'wasi'
gul-dan mera dil hai teri yaad phul hai
