ज़ीस्त में कोशिश-ए-नाकाम से पहले पहले
सोच आग़ाज़ को अंजाम से पहले पहले
हर बुरे काम का अंजाम बुरा होता है
उन को समझा दो बुरे काम से पहले पहले
शुक्रिया आप के आने का अयादत को मिरी
दर्द कम हो गया आराम से पहले पहले
आज मय-ख़ाने में जब ख़ौफ़-ए-ख़ुदा याद आया
हाथ थर्राने लगे जाम से पहले पहले
अदल-ओ-इंसाफ़ की अज़्मत को बचाने के लिए
सर को कटवा दिया इल्ज़ाम से पहले पहले
ये भी मुमकिन था मिरी मौत भी टल सकती थी
आप आ जाते अगर शाम से पहले पहले
जब ज़बाँ खोली तो इस शान से खोली 'आरिफ़'
नाम तेरा लिया हर नाम से पहले पहले
