P دشمن dushman [Zend dusmainyu, i.e. dush+m˚; S. dush+manyu], s.m. Enemy, foe, adversary (in polite speech the word is frequently used euphemistically in a peculiar manner, e.g. āp-ke dushmanoṅ-kī tabʻīyat kab-se ʻalīl hai, 'How long have your foes been indisposed?' but implying, 'Since when have you (or has your honour) been indisposed?'):—dushman-ě-jān or jānī, A mortal enemy:—dushman-ě-dilī, An enemy at heart:—dushman-ě-ẕātī, A natural foe:—dushman-kām, s.m.
