ايمان īmān
A ايمان īmān [inf. n. iv of امن 'To be safe or secure'], s.m. Belief (particularly in God, and in His word and apostles, &c.); faith, religion, creed; conscience; good faith, trustworthiness, integrity:—īmān bećnā, To sell one's conscience; to break one's word, faith, &c.; to sacrifice one's integrity, honour, &c.; to prove faithless or dishonest:—īmān-dār, adj. Faithful, true, conscientious;—s.m. A believer:—īmān-dārī, s.f. Fidelity, truth, trustworthiness, honesty:—īmān-se, adv. Faithfully, honestly, conscientiously, solemnly:—īmān-kā, adj. (f. -ī), Honest, true, fair, conscientious, trustworthy, trusty:—īmān khonā, To sacrifice or lose honour, integrity, &c.=īmān bećnā, q.v.:—īmān lānā (-par), To believe (in), become a convert (to); to have or put faith (in), repose trust or confidence (in), rely (on); to credit, give credit (to):—īmān-meṅ ḵẖalal ānā, īmān-meṅ farq ānā, To have one's honesty or probity shaken or disturbed, to prove faithless, dishonest, &c.
امان amān

Quarter! mercy! spare me!:—amān pānā (-kī), To obtain assurance of safety (of), to find protection or grace:—amān denā (-ko), To give a promise of safety, to afford protection, &c.:—amān māṅgnā, To seek protection, to seek the assurance of safety; to ask for quarter:—amān-meṅ rakhnā, v.t. To keep in safety or under (one's) protection, to render (one) secure; to protect, defend, shelter.
