H پلٿا पलटा palṭā [Prk. पल्लट्टओ; S. पर्यस्त+कः; see palaṭnā], s.m. Going or turning back, flight, retreat; reverse; turn, stead; change, exchange, barter; recompense, return, requital, retribution, retaliation, revenge (syn. badlā):—an iron pan or ladle with a long handle (used to turn cakes when cooking):—palṭe, palte-meṅ, postpn. Instead (of, -ke), in lieu (of), in return (for), &c. (=badle-meṅ; ʻiwaẓ):—palṭā khānā, v.n. To turn over, tilt over, turn upside down, turn head over heels; to rebound; to suffer a turn (of fortune); to suffer a reverse:—palṭā lenā (-kā), To take revenge (from, -se), to exact retribution.

P پليته palīta, = H پليتا पलीता palītā, [per met. for patīla, A. fatīla;—S. प्रदीप्त, Prāk. पलित्तं], s.m. A thick wick (generally of cloth); a roll of lint (to be put into a wound), a suppository (=battī);—a paper spill with spells and prayers written on it, the smoke of which when lighted is in haled by the sick as a remedy, or which with cotton rolled round it is used as the wick of a lamp to ward off the influence of evil spirits, and to cure one possessed;—the match of a gun;—a candle:—palītā ćāṭ-jānā, v.n. To flash in the pan.
