Aazar

Aazar, known as Terah in Hebew Bible, was the father of prophet Ibrahim (Abraham). Aazar’s relationship with his son is central to the undeerstanding of his character. Aazar was a skilled idol sculptor who would often charge Ibrahim for making fun of the idols and questioning the way of his forefathers. One day, when Aazar sent Ibrahim to sell his idols, he mocked their inability to do anything, or make any difference. Ibrahim would also throw the idols into the river to show that it was futile to worship idols made of stone. All these resulted in a confrontation between Aazar and Ibrahim which ultimately led to the banishment of Ibrahim. In spite of this, Ibrahim loved Aazar and prayed for him.
