Sarfraz Nawaz was born on November 10, 1977 in Anjan Shaheed, Azamgarh, a literary city in UP. He is currently associated with the Department of Teaching and is serving as an Associate Professor at Shibli National College, Azamgarh.
He received his early education from Darul Uloom Hussainabad Anjan Shaheed Madrassa of the village. Completed Intermediate from Shibli Inter College Azamgarh and BA from Shibli National College Azamgarh. He did his MA in English from Gorakhpur University and obtained his PhD degree from Jamia Miliya Islamia under his on-the-job teacher fellowship.
The atmosphere at home was literary. His mother was a teacher of Arabic and his father was a teacher as well as a poet. Therefore, in this literary environment, the inclination towards poetry was natural. Sarfraz Nawaz's poetry is a beautiful blend of tradition and modernity. His lyrical spell is full of imagination and diversity. Intellectual individuality and sensitivity are important features of his poetry.
As far as his writings are concerned, two of his books, Nava-e-Maghrib (Prosodic translations of selected western poems in Urdu), and Is Chhote Se Lamhe Mein (Nazms), have come to light. The collection of poems " Is Chhote Se Lamhe Mein " has won an award from the Urdu Academy, Uttar Pradesh.
