मोती समझ के शान-ए-करीमी ने चुन लिए
रोचक तथ्य
In his early days, when Allama Iqbal arrived in Lahore for higher studies, he had a golden opportunity to develop and train his poetic talents in this literary center. Poetry festivals were the talk of the town. Poets like Mirza Rushd Gurgani Dehlavi and Mir Nazim Lukhnavi were present here and these teachers of poetry started a series of Mushairas which were held every month on the Bazar-e-Hakiman. Iqbal also started participating in this poetry to cultivate his poetic taste. Thus he was introduced to Mirza Arshad Gurgani as a poet and gradually he started getting corrections from Mirza Sahib on his poems. In those days they used to sing ghazals. And these lyrics were simple, expressive ideas in small seas. However, Iqbal's poetic talents were definitely expressed through his playfulness and unpretentiousness. In those days, Iqbal recited a ghazal in the Bazaar-e-Hakeem, one of which was this. "motii samajh ke shaan-e-kariimii ne chun liye, qatre jo the mire araq-e-infi.aal ke". After listening to this couplet, everyone in the Mushaira exclaimed with joy, and at this very moment Mirza Gurgani predicted that Iqbal would be one of the great poets of the future.
