in 1923, risala jamia was launched from aligarh, with noor-ur-rahman as its editor. the magazine primarily focused on educational and instructional articles, but it also featured writings on politics, culture, history, notable personalities, and religion, along with prose and poetry-related literary pieces. one of its distinguishing features was the publication of important articles on economics. the magazine had its own unique intellectual and cultural approach. a review of its content reveals that it upheld a high standard of scholarly and literary excellence. under the history section, notable articles included hindu aur arya ki wajah tasmia (akbar shah najibabadi), asar-e-arab (ibrahim imadi), and asar-e-fira'ina-e-misr (saeed ansari). similarly, in relation to the urdu language, significant articles included urdu rasm-ul-khat (maulana aslam jairajpuri), urdu rasm-ul-khat (mohiuddin qadri zor), qaumi zaban (maulvi badr-ul-hasan), and hindustan ki mushtarka qaumi zaban (speech by babu rajendra prasad). additionally, articles such as sariqa wa tawarud (syed shakir hussain nikhat sahsawani), shumali hindustani ke dehati zaban (syed matlabi fareedabadi), and arabi zaban asr-e-jahili mein (abdul aleem ahrari) were of great significance. the magazine maintained a high standard, partly due to the involvement of distinguished scholars such as aslam jairajpuri, yusuf hussain khan, dr. abid hussain, noor-ul-hasan hashmi, professor muhammad aqil, and professor najm hanfi in its editorial board. dr. farzana khalil has compiled a critical index of risala jamia (1923–1947), which has been published.
