Shahid Kabir was born on 1st May, 1932 in Nagpur in India. Kabir started writing article short stories ghazals etc at an early age but acquired fame through writing lyrics in Hindi/Urdu cinema. He wrote some beautiful ghazals which were sung by our noted singers from hindi/urdu cinema. In 1957, he wrote a drama named 'Mirza Ghalib" that was played at Rastrapati Bhawan. Some of his published books are Kachchi Deewaarein (Novel-1958), Charon-aor (modern ghazal collection-1968), Mitti Ka Makan (Ghazals-1979) that won first prize by Maharashtra State Urdu Academy. His another ghazal "Pehchaan" published in 2000, got him another prize by Maharashtra State Urdu Academy. Shahid Kabir passed away on 11th May, 2001.
