Muhammed Nazeer Siddiqui was born on 7 November 1930 in Sarai Saahu of district Chapra. In 1953, he did his Masters in Urdu from Dhaka and completed his Masters in English from Punjab University in 1976. He served as a lecturer in various colleges of Dhaka. In 1990, he was appointed Head of the Urdu Department of Beijing University. He wrote under the pen name, Nazeer. Besides Urdu, he used to write columns and articles in English as well. He wrote features and inshaa’iyas as well. Criticism was the basic shade of his writing. He was very skilled in Urdu prose as well. He has more than twenty books to his credit in Urdu and English on different topics. Shohrat Ki Khatir, Taa’ssurat and Taa’ssubat, Mere Khyal Mein, Adabi Jaaizey, Tafheem-O-Taabeer, Urdu Adab Ke Maghribi Dareechey, Dr Andaleeb Shadani, A Study, Jaan Pehchaan, Hasrat-E-Izhaar, Iqbaal and Radha Krishna (English) and Guzargaah-E-Khyal (the translation of a Japanese book) are some of his works. Guzargaah-E-Khyal was awarded by literary academy of Pakistan. He died on 12 April 2001 in Islamabad.
