Identity: Qur'anic Exegete, Hadith Scholar, Sufi Master, and Distinguished Author of Religious and Reformist Literature

Muhammad Ashiq Ilahi Bulandshahri Muhajir Madani was born in 1924/1925 CE (1343 AH) in Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh, India. After receiving his early religious education, he graduated from Mazahir Uloom in 1363 AH. He was among the distinguished students of the renowned Hadith scholar, Mawlana Muhammad Zakariyya Kandhlawi. In the field of Sufism and spiritual training, he received authorization and succession from Mawlana Muhammad Talha Kandhlawi.

After completing his education, he taught at various Islamic seminaries in India. At the invitation of Mufti Muhammad Shafi, he migrated to Pakistan in 1384 AH and taught Qur'anic exegesis and Hadith at Darul Uloom Karachi for approximately twelve years. In 1396 AH (1976 CE), he moved to Madinah, where he spent the remainder of his life engaged in teaching, research, and writing.

Mawlana Ashiq Ilahi is regarded as one of the prominent Islamic scholars and reformist authors of the Indian subcontinent. He authored numerous works on the Qur'an, Hadith, Islamic jurisprudence, ethics, Sufism, and social reform. His writings are noted for their simplicity, clarity, and reformative spirit. His well-known works include Tohfa-e-Khawateen, Marne Ke Baad Kya Hoga?, Islami Adab, Huququl Walidayn, Anwar-ul-Bayan (a five-volume Urdu commentary of the Qur'an), Zadut Talibin, Al-Fawa’id al-Saniyyah fi Sharh al-Arba‘in al-Nawawiyyah, and At-Tashil al-Daruri fi Masa’il al-Quduri.

Death: Mawlana Muhammad Ashiq Ilahi Muhajir Madani passed away in 1422 AH / 2002 CE in Madinah.
