Mahmood Shaam (born Tariq Mahmood, 1940, is a Pakistani Urdu language journalist, poet writer and analyst. He received his bachelor's degree in English literature, Persian and Philosophy from Government College Jhang and obtained Master's degree in Philosophy from Government College Lahore. He was editor of the college magazine Ravi. Shaam started his career as a journalist and he has worked for 50 years in various newspapers/magazines, including 16 years in Jang group. He has written 20 books including poetry books in which he describes condition of the oppressed people of Pakistan. His several books were banned by the military government of Zia-ul-Haq. He was also arrested on August 4, 1977 by Martial Law Authorities. He joined Ary Digital Group in 2010 to launch a new Urdu Newspaper. His popular works include Akhri Raqs, Chehra Chehra Meri Kahani, Nawishta-e-Dewar, Bhutto Key Akhri Ayyam, Bartania Mein Khizaan.
