About The Author

Syed Sarwar Zaheer, known in the literary world by his pen name Sarwar Ghazali, was born on January 1, 1962, in Paksi. A distinguished Urdu fiction writer and novelist, he currently resides in Germany, where he serves as a lecturer of Urdu at the Department of Linguistics (Africa & Asia), Humboldt University, Berlin.  

He holds a Master's degree in Engineering from Berlin, Germany, yet his true calling has always been literature. As a writer, translator, and critic, he has made significant contributions to Urdu prose, capturing the depth of human emotions, the pain of migration, and the complexities of social realities.  

His major literary works include Bikhre Patte (Short Story Collection, 2008), Doosri Hijrat (Novel, 2013), Bheege Pal (Short Story Collection, 2016), Mere Mazameen (Essays, 2017), Suraj Ka Aghwa (Short Story Collection, 2019), Khoon Ki Bheek (German Novel, 2021), Shab-e-Hijran (Novel, Educational Publishing Delhi, 2021), Afsanon Ka Sindhi Tarjuma (Translated by Mujeeb Otto, 2019), Hara Hua Mallah (Short-Short Stories, Educational Publishing Delhi, 2022), and Safar Hai Shart (Travelogue).  

Sarwar Ghazali’s writing is deeply introspective, often centered on themes of migration, solitude, nostalgia, and the intricate workings of the human mind. His works have received widespread acclaim, not only in the Urdu literary sphere but also through translations into other languages. With his unique storytelling and thought-provoking narratives, he remains a significant figure in contemporary Urdu literature, dedicated to the enrichment and promotion of the language.
