Sardar Panchhi (Karnail Singh) was a Punjabi, Urdu, and Hindi poet. Sardar Panchhi is his pen name. He wrote several songs for Bollywood films, among which "Ek Chadar Maili Si" and "Waris" are famous. He was born on October 14, 1932, in a village near Gujranwala, Punjab (now in Pakistan). He was 17 years old when India was partitioned, and he had to migrate with his family. Sardar Panchhi wrote seven books in Punjabi, nine books in Urdu, and two books in Hindi.
