A renowned intellectual, author, and critic, Ahmad Bashir was a close friend of Mumtaz Mufti and Ashfaq Ahmed. He authored several books, including biographical sketches and novels. Among his notable works are "Jo Mile Thay Raste Mein", a collection of sketches, and "Dil Bhatkay Ga". His famous novels include "Manzil Manzil Dil Bhatkay Ga" and the English novel "Dancing Wolf".
He also directed a film titled "Neela Parbat", which unfortunately did not succeed.
His two daughters, Sumbul and Neelam Ahmed Bashir, are writers, while his other daughter, Bushra Ansari, is a well-known television artist. Prominent Urdu and Punjabi writer and travelogue author Parveen Atif was Ahmad Bashir’s sister.
Ahmad Bashir passed away in Lahore due to cancer.
