ممتاز مفتی کی یہ کتاب معاشرےکےمذہبی اورمعاشرتی طورپرکمزورلوگوں کےلئےایک گائیڈہے،جسےپڑھ کرلوگ ،عام زندگی میں اورعازمین حج و عمرہ ایک خاص قسم کی تربیت سے گزرتے ہیں،اس تربیت کا اثرگھر سے لے کرمکّہ ومدینہ میں حاضری اور پھر واپس گھر تک کے سفر میں محسوس ہوتا ہے۔در اصل ممتاز مفتی نے 1968ء میں قدرت اللہ شہاب کے ہمراہ حج بیت اللہ کی سعادت حاصل کی۔ حج بیت اللہ کے سفر کےتقریباًچھ سال بعد 1975ء میں ان کے حج کے سفر کی روداد ایک رپوتاژ کی شکل میں،مختلف رسالوں میں شائع ہوئی ۔"لبیک"ممتازمفتی کی سب سے زیادہ تہلکہ خیز اوررجحان ساز کتاب ثابت ہوئی،اوراس نےاردوادب میں ایسی سنسنی کوجنم دیاجس کی باز گشت دیرتک دنیائےادب کی فضاؤں میں گونجتی رہی۔ یہ کتاب ممتاز مفتی کی سب سے زیادہ پڑھی جانےوالی کتاب ثابت ہوئی۔

One of the celebrated fiction writers, Mumtaz Mufti made several experiments in technique of storytelling with reference to the issues he chose to highlight before his readers. He developed a keen eye for the psychological studies of his characters. He also wrote a voluminous novel entitled Alipur Ka Aili which was later recognized as one the best known novels in the Urdu language.

Mumtaz Mufti was born on 11 September, 1905 at Batala in Gurdaspur, Punjab. He received his early education at Amritsar, Miyanwali, and Dera Ghazi. Later, he got his degrees of B. A. from Islamia College, Lahore in 1929 and S. A. V from Central College, Lahore in 1933. He worked for All India Radio and also for Bombay film industry. He migrated to Pakistan in 1947 where he worked on important positions for the Government of Pakistan. He passed away on 27 October, 1995.  
Mumtaz Mufti published his short stories in Ankahi, Gehma Gehmi, Chup, Gudia Ghar, and Raughani Putle. He published his light essays in Kaise Kaise Log and put together his sketches in Pyaz ke Chchilke. He also wrote his Hajj travelogue called Labbaik which received remarkable applause from his readers
