Izzatullah Bengali was from Murshidabad, Bengal, which was a center of the Persian language at that time. In 1722, he wrote a story in Persian titled "Taj-ul-Muluk wa Gul Bakawali". Later, Munshi Nihal Chand Lahori translated this story into Urdu under the title "Mazhab-e-Ishq", which was completed in 1803 and published in 1804.
