About The Magazine

in 1936, the journal meyar was launched from bankipur, patna, under the patna branch of anjuman taraqqi urdu hind. the editor of the journal was qazi abdul wadud, with muhammad sharaf alam arzoo jaleeli serving as an assistant editor. meyar primarily published scholarly, research-based, and literary writings. the journal had several permanent sections, including: ma’ruzat (observations) taaruf (introduction) aasaar-e-adabiya (literary works) ghalib afsane (short stories) tamseel (dramatic writings) nazm (poetry) maqalat (essays) matbu’at-e-jadida (new publications) iqtabasat (excerpts) mahkama (departmental section) alam-e-adab (world of literature) there was also a section titled bihar, which focused on literary and historical articles related to the bihar province. a significant portion of the journal’s content was written by qazi abdul wadud himself, including his short story "honahar nojawan" (talented youth), which was also published in the journal. a review of meyar contents reflects the editor’s dedication and meticulous efforts. the journal contained many valuable and insightful essays. abid raza bedar later reproduced a complete facsimile edition of meyar archives with an analytical index, which was published by the khwaja bakhsh library.
