Azra Abbas was born in Karachi, Pakistan in 1950. She completed her master's degree from Karachi University and started to teach urdu literature in a government college. Her husband, Anwar Sen Roy (who was associated with B.B.C.) is a poet and novelist himself. Her first collection of poems was published in 1981. Till now three more collections of poems, a collection of short stories, her autobiography and a novel titled 'Main aur Moosa' have been published.
