Majid Amjad was born at Jhang (Pakistan) on June 29, 1914. After completion of his Bachelor in Arts from Lahore, Majid worked for several years as an editor of a semi-government journal, Arooj-e-Jhang. A major part of his life was spent in Sahiwaal (Montgomery), from where he retired as an Assistant Food Controller, in 1972. He died on 11th May, 1976. His complete poetical works containing about 600 pages of ghazals and nazms, titled Loh-e-Dil, were published posthumously in 1987.
