زیر نظر کتاب جس کا عنوان ہے 'واہیات باتیں'۔ اس کتاب کے مصنف ہندستان میں اردو کے جانے مانے طنز نگار اور کالم نویس ابراہیم جلیس ہیں۔ چونکہ وہ خود بھی ایک عرصے تک اس گلیمر بھری دنیا کا حصہ رہے یوں اس کتاب کا موضوع فلمی دنیا ہے۔ جس میں انہوں مذاق ہی مذاق میں فلمی دنیا کے بارے میں ایسے ایسے انکشافات کیے ہیں کہ قاری انگشت بدنداں رہ جائے۔ یہ مضامین ان کے شہہ پاروں میں شمار کیے جاتے ہیں۔ اس میں ان کا اسلوب کچھ ایسا ہے کہ جو لوگ فلموں سے تعلق نہیں ہیں وہ بھی انہیں اتنی ہی دلچسپی سے پڑھتے ہیں جتنا خود فلمی دنیا کے لوگ۔ ایک اچھی بات اس کتاب کی یہ بھی ہے کہ اپنے عنوان کے برعکس اس میں کچھ بھی واہیات جیسا نہیں ہے۔

About The Author

Ibrahim Jalees belonged to the populous land of Hyderabad Deccan. He was born in Bangalore on August 11, 1922 but received his early education in Gulbarga, Hyderabad Deccan. He graduated from Aligarh Muslim University in 1942 and started writing at about the same time. There, his journalistic career began, too. He moved to Pakistan in 1948 where he was associated with various newspapers including Imroz, Anjam, Jang, Hurriyat and Masawat. He was also the editor of the daily Anjam for some time and also published a weekly called Adalat. Towards the end of his life, he was the editor of the Pakistan People's Party's daily Masawat, which came under government scrutiny in 1977 due to martial law.

Ibrahim Jalees was also a fine novelist. His first novel "Rishta" was published in Saaqi. in February 1943. Other memorable works of his include, ‘Zard Chahre’, ‘Chalis KaroD Bhikhari’, ‘Do Mulk, Ek Kahani’, ‘Ulti Qabr’, ‘Asman Ke Bashine’, and many others. His travelogues of the United States and Iran are particularly noteworthy.

But Jalees’ continuous literary efforts finally came to an end on October 26, 1977, when died of a ruptured cerebral artery. On August 14, 1989, 12 years after the death of Ibrahim Jalis, the Government of Pakistan awarded him the Posthumous Medal of Merit in recognition of his services.
