be-sabab vo na mire qatl kī tadbīr meñ thā
us ke hāthoñ hī se miTnā mirī taqdīr meñ thā
muntazir thā tirā dīvāna-e-gesū jis raat
ālam-e-chashm har ik halqa-e-zanjīr meñ thā
jumbish-e-lab kā gumāñ hotā thā āshiq ko tire
is qadar lutf-e-ḳhamoshī tirī tasvīr meñ thā
o kamāñ-abrū jo ik tiir lagāyā to kyā
ishtiyāq is se zyāda dil-e-naḳhchīr meñ thā
murġh-e-bismil sā taḌaptā thā har ik murġh-e-sahar
asar-e-tīr mire nāla-e-shab-gīr meñ thā
be-sabab wo na mere qatl ki tadbir mein tha

muntazir tha tera diwana-e-gesu jis raat
aalam-e-chashm har ek halqa-e-zanjir mein tha
jumbish-e-lab ka guman hota tha aashiq ko tere
is qadar lutf-e-KHamoshi teri taswir mein tha
o kaman-abru jo ek tir lagaya to kya
ishtiyaq is se zyaada dil-e-naKHchir mein tha
murgh-e-bismil sa taDapta tha har ek murgh-e-sahar
asar-e-tir mere nala-e-shab-gir mein tha
