din mein jo sath sab ke hansta tha
din meñ jo saath sab ke hañstā thā
rāt-bhar vo akele rotā thā
bas vahī merī āḳhirī shab thī
chāñd jis raat mujh se rūThā thā
āḳhirī umr tak rahegī yaad
saath jis ke maiñ raat bhīgā thā
aur to koī thā nahīñ shāyad
raat ko uTh ke maiñ hī chīḳhā thā
jo haqīqat khulī to ye jaanā
vo mohabbat nahīñ tamāshā thā
maiñ baḌā sañg-dil thā yaaro jab
dil banāne kā merā pesha thā
aur to saare ḳhush the bas 'indar'
ek bulbul udaas baiThā thā
