ab tasavvur kī suunī vaadī meñ
roz jashn-e-bahār hotā hai
Now in the desolate Valley of the imagination
The Festival of Spring is celebrated everyday
gulshan-e-jāñ meñ un ke aane se
gul-sifat kārobār hotā hai
With their coming into the Garden of Life
Business, Like the transaction of flowers,blooms
jab bichhaḌ jaatā hai koī apnā
ġham hī bas rozgār hotā hai
When those close to us are separated
Sorrow is the only trade and commerce
chāñd kā raqs ho rahā hai kahīñ
dil yahāñ se nisār hotā hai
Somewhere,the dance of the moon is taking place
Here,our heart is being frittered away
shāḳh-dar-shāḳh hotī hai zaḳhmī
jab parinda shikār hotā hai
Branch after branch gets wounded
When the bird becomes the prey
