apnā haal apne liye jaise koī afsāna thā
chhoTe chhoTe do varaq jal jal ke daftar ban ga.e
dars-e-hasrat de rahā thā jo par-e-parvāna thā
jaan kar vārafta un ke chheḌne kī der thī
phir to dil ik hosh meñ aayā huā dīvāna thā
zau-fishāñ hone lagā jab dil meñ husn-e-ḳhud-numā
phir to kaaba 'ārzū' kaaba na thā but-ḳhāna thā

jaan kar warafta un ke chheDne ki der thi
phir to dil ek hosh mein aaya hua diwana tha
zau-fishan hone laga jab dil mein husn-e-KHud-numa
phir to kaba 'arzu' kaba na tha but-KHana tha
