dil kī shīrīnī bātoñ meñ hotī thī
phir tāsīr munājātoñ meñ hotī thī
kyā din the jab kunjī ḳhushī-ḳhazāne kī
apne dhūl-bhare hāthoñ meñ hotī thī
bachpan meñ mīThī roTī jaisī ḳhushbū
maañ kī bhed-bharī bātoñ meñ hotī thī
kachche rangoñ kā āñchal aur bhīge ḳhvāb
kitnī mushkil barsātoñ meñ hotī thī
yaañ to apnī zaat ke ġham meñ rahte haiñ
dukh se jang muzāfātoñ meñ hotī thī
dil ki shirini baaton mein hoti thi
phir tasir munajaton mein hoti thi
kya din the jab kunji KHushi-KHazane ki
apne dhul-bhare hathon mein hoti thi
bachpan mein miThi roTi jaisi KHushbu
man ki bhed-bhari baaton mein hoti thi
kachche rangon ka aanchal aur bhige KHwab
kitni mushkil barsaton mein hoti thi
yan to apni zat ke gham mein rahte hain
dukh se jang muzafaton mein hoti thi
