    ik tahrīr thī so vo dariyā-burd huī

    lafzoñ ke shahzāde rasta dekhe

    jañgal meñ rahne vaalī bholī laḌkī

    terī muḳhbir terī hamrāz kanīz

    merī dushman merī ek sahelī thī

    bhuuk paale apnī kokh meñ merī maañ

    bāñjh duā.eñ mehnat vaale hāthoñ

    vo ghar jis ke taaq meñ diyā na thā lekin

    sehn meñ ek kunDārī rakkhī rahtī thī

    jo mabad mein diya jalane aati thi

    wo laDki kyun andhiyaron ki nazr hui

    wo jis ne ashkon se haar nahin mani

    kis KHamoshi se dariya mein Dub gai

    ret pe mere aur tumhaare qadmon ki

    ek tahrir thi so wo dariya-burd hui

    lafzon ke shahzade ka rasta dekhe

    jangal mein rahne wali bholi laDki

    teri muKHbir teri hi hamraaz kaniz

    meri dushman meri ek saheli thi

    bhuk hi pale apni kokh mein meri man

    banjh duaen mehnat wale hathon ki

    wo ghar jis ke taq mein diya na tha lekin

    sehn mein ek kunDari rakkhi rahti thi
