लुट गए मिस्र का बाज़ार लगाने वाले
सो गए ख़्वाब की ता'बीर बताने वाले
अपनी मर्ज़ी से जो इक फूल खिला सकते नहीं
आ गए सब को हरे बाग़ दिखाने वाले
ऐसा होता है सियासत का भयानक चेहरा
लाश उठाते हैं वही लाश गिराने वाले
ऐसी दा'वत तो किसी ने भी नहीं की होगी
अपने मेहमाँ को अंधेरे में खिलाने वाले
सहमा सहमा सा नज़र आता है बूढ़ा बरगद
अब परिंदे हैं कहाँ शोर मचाने वाले
लड़कियाँ साँवले रंगों की कुँवारी ही रहीं
सब के सब मर गए मजनूँ के घराने वाले
बे-सुरों से तो मिरा दूर का रिश्ता भी नहीं
मैं वो नग़्मा हूँ जिसे गा गए गाने वाले
