mere pairon tale jo dharti hai
mere pairoñ tale jo dhartī hai
mere hāthoñ hī vo bikhartī hai
maiñ hī dariyā kī shakl bahtā huuñ
aur machhlī mujhī meñ martī hai
ek sūraj hai mere siine meñ
chāñdnī jis ke par katartī hai
koī be-nīnd raat chupke se
shāna-e-shām par utartī hai
jaise-jaise vo haath dhotī hai
vaise-vaise hinā nikhartī hai
mere pairon tale jo dharti hai
mere hathon hi wo bikharti hai
main hi dariya ki shakl bahta hun
aur machhli mujhi mein marti hai
ek suraj hai mere sine mein
chandni jis ke par katarti hai
koi be-nind raat chupke se
shana-e-sham par utarti hai
jaise-jaise wo hath dhoti hai
waise-waise hina nikharti hai
