kal merī ek pyārī sahelī kitāb meñ
ik ḳhat chhupā rahī thī ki tum yaad aa ga.e
us vaqt rāt-rānī mire suune sahn meñ
ḳhushbū luTā rahī thī ki tum yaad aa ga.e
īmān jāniye ki ise kufr jāniye
maiñ sar jhukā rahī thī ki tum yaad aa ga.e
kal shaam chhat pe mīr-taqī-'mīr' kī ġhazal
maiñ gungunā rahī thī ki tum yaad aa ga.e
'anjum' tumhārā shahr jidhar hai usī taraf
ik rail jā rahī thī ki tum yaad aa ga.e
tum ko bhula rahi thi ki tum yaad aa gae
main zahr kha rahi thi ki tum yaad aa gae
kal meri ek pyari saheli kitab mein

us waqt raat-rani mere sune sahn mein
