chashm dar par thī sub.h tak shāyad
kuchh kisī se qarār thā kyā thā
muddat-e-umr jis kā naam hai aah
barq thī yā sharār thā kyā thā
dekh mujh ko jo bazm se tū uThā
kuchh tujhe mujh se aar thā kyā thā
phir ga.ī vo nigah jo yuuñ mahram
sail thī yā kaTār thā kyā thā
raat 'qā.em' tū is mizāj pe vaañ
saḳht be-iḳhtiyār thā kyā thā
shab jo dil be-qarar tha kya tha
kisi ka intizar tha kya tha
chashm dar par thi subh tak shayad
kuchh kisi se qarar tha kya tha
muddat-e-umr jis ka nam hai aah
barq thi ya sharar tha kya tha
dekh mujh ko jo bazm se tu uTha

phir gai wo nigah jo yun mahram
sail thi ya kaTar tha kya tha
raat 'qaem' tu is mizaj pe wan
saKHt be-iKHtiyar tha kya tha
