sūraj Duubā niklā chāñd
chhat par aayā merā chāñd
iid kā sab ne dekhā chāñd
ham ne dekhā apnā chāñd
dīvāne be-tāb hue
jab parde se jhāñkā chāñd
us kā dushman koī nahīñ
sab ke liye hai pyārā chāñd
ahd-e-javānī meñ aksar
hotā hai sharmīlā chāñd
dekhte hī us kā chehra
bādal meñ chhup jaatā chāñd
aap ke āñgan meñ 'ahmar'
pichhlī shab kyoñ aayā chāñd
