tawil-e-ahd-e-fan hi to wahshat ka hal nahin
tāvīl-e-ahd-e-fan hī to vahshat kā hal nahīñ
pesh-e-nazar junūn hai yaaro ġhazal nahīñ
ab is ke baad ahd kī tārīk raat hai
ye iḳhtitām-e-shām hai sub.h-e-azal nahīñ
ai dost ishq mansab-e-fahm-o-shu.ūr hai
ye irtiqā hai zehn kā koī ḳhalal nahīñ
ik umr ratjagoñ kī aziyyat meñ kaaT dī
ab mere ḳhvāb niiñd kā radd-e-amal nahīñ
kyā kyā atā-e-ne.amat-e-rabb-e-karīm hai
lekin 'samīr' dard kā nemul-badal nahīñ

ye iKHtitam-e-sham hai subh-e-azal nahin

ek umr ratjagon ki aziyyat mein kaT di
ab mere KHwab nind ka radd-e-amal nahin
kya kya ata-e-neamat-e-rabb-e-karim hai
lekin 'samir' dard ka nemul-badal nahin
