bagh-e-jahan ke gul hain ya Khaar hain to hum hain
bāġh-e-jahāñ ke gul haiñ yā ḳhaar haiñ to ham haiñ
gar yaar haiñ to ham haiñ aġhyār haiñ to ham haiñ
in the garden of the world / be rose or thorn, it's me
if a lover, it is I, the rival too is me
dariyā-e-ma.arifat ke dekhā to ham haiñ sāhil
gar vaar haiñ to ham haiñ aur paar haiñ to ham haiñ
of the sea of knowledge, the shore I am, I see
if this bank then, it is I, across it's also me
vābasta hai hamīñ se gar jabr hai o gar qadr
majbūr haiñ to ham haiñ muḳhtār haiñ to ham haiñ
to only me / do both relate, opression, dignity
if compelled, I am the one, I am the one who's free
terā hī husn jag meñ har-chand maujzan hai
tis par bhī tishna-kām-e-dīdār haiñ to ham haiñ
though your beauty is in spate / for all the world to see
yet if thirsting for your sight, there's one, then it is me
alfāz-e-ḳhalq ham bin sab mohmalāt se the
ma.anī kī tarah rabt-e-guftār haiñ to ham haiñ
words of the world, without me, were all absurdity
the substance and the spirit / of eloquence, is me
auroñ se to girānī yak-laḳht uTh ga.ī hai
ai 'dard' apne dil ke gar baar haiñ to ham haiñ
the grieving caused by others / was lifted easily
if there's a burden on my heart / then it's only me
bagh-e-jahan ke gul hain ya KHar hain to hum hain
gar yar hain to hum hain aghyar hain to hum hain
in the garden of the world / be rose or thorn, it's me
if a lover, it is I, the rival too is me
dariya-e-marifat ke dekha to hum hain sahil
gar war hain to hum hain aur par hain to hum hain
of the sea of knowledge, the shore I am, I see
if this bank then, it is I, across it's also me
wabasta hai hamin se gar jabr hai o gar qadr
majbur hain to hum hain muKHtar hain to hum hain
to only me / do both relate, opression, dignity
if compelled, I am the one, I am the one who's free
tera hi husn jag mein har-chand maujzan hai
tis par bhi tishna-kaam-e-didar hain to hum hain
though your beauty is in spate / for all the world to see
yet if thirsting for your sight, there's one, then it is me
alfaz-e-KHalq hum bin sab mohmalat se the
mani ki tarah rabt-e-guftar hain to hum hain
words of the world, without me, were all absurdity
the substance and the spirit / of eloquence, is me
auron se to girani yak-laKHt uTh gai hai
ai 'dard' apne dil ke gar bar hain to hum hain
the grieving caused by others / was lifted easily
if there's a burden on my heart / then it's only me
