yā mujhe vahm huā thā shāyad
chār-sū raqs-kunāñ thī ḳhushbū
phuul pattoñ meñ chhupā thā shāyad
yūñhī āñchal nahīñ lahrāyā thā
kuchh havāoñ pe likhā thā shāyad
dīda-e-tar ne bhī māyūs kiyā
naqsh paanī pe banā thā shāyad
saañs kyoñ rukne lagī thī merī
rābta TuuT gayā thā shāyad
maiñ ne hī zulm kiyā thā ḳhud par
vo hī sach bol rahā thā shāyad
nā-murādī kī shikāyat kaisī
yahī qismat kā likhā thā shāyad

phul patton mein chhupa tha shayad
yunhi aanchal nahin lahraya tha
kuchh hawaon pe likha tha shayad

sans kyon rukne lagi thi meri
rabta TuT gaya tha shayad
main ne hi zulm kiya tha KHud par
wo hi sach bol raha tha shayad
na-muradi ki shikayat kaisi
yahi qismat ka likha tha shayad
