waqt jab rah ki diwar hua
vaqt jab raah kī dīvār huā
koī sailāb numūdār huā
us ne peḌoñ se haTā liiñ shāḳheñ
baaġh meñ se tū ka.ī baar huā
maiñ ne jo dil meñ chhupānā chāhā
mere chehre se numūdār huā
sāhilī-shām kā phailā manzar
kuchh lakīroñ meñ giraftār huā
raat ik shaḳhs bahut yaad aayā
jis ghaḌī chāñd numūdār huā
waqt jab rah ki diwar hua

bagh mein se tu kai bar hua
main ne jo dil mein chhupana chaha

sahili-sham ka phaila manzar
