zahr to lā-javāb thā us kā
din hī shāyad ḳharāb thā us kā
jabki merā savāl sīdhā thā
phir bhī ulTā javāb thā us kā
vo mahz dhuup kā musāfir thā
ham-safar āftāb thā us kā
aañkh jaise koī samundar ho
aur lahja sharāb thā us kā
mutma.in thā vo zaat se apnī
ḳhud hī vo intiḳhāb thā us kā
