    zarā mohtāt honā chāhiye thā

baġhair ashkoñ ke ronā chāhiye thā

ab un ko yaad kar ke ro rahe haiñ

    bichhaḌte vaqt ronā chāhiye thā

mirī va.ada-ḳhilāfī par vo chup hai

    use nārāz honā chāhiye thā

chalā aatā yaqīnan ḳhvāb meñ vo

hameñ kal raat sonā chāhiye thā

suī dhāga mohabbat ne diyā thā

to kuchh siina pironā chāhiye thā

hamārā haal tum bhī pūchhte ho

    tumheñ ma.alūm honā chāhiye thā

vafā majbūr tum ko kar rahī thī

to phir majbūr honā chāhiye thā

    zara mohtat hona chahiye tha

baghair ashkon ke rona chahiye tha

ab un ko yaad kar ke ro rahe hain

    bichhaDte waqt rona chahiye tha

meri wada-KHilafi par wo chup hai

    use naraaz hona chahiye tha

chala aata yaqinan KHwab mein wo

hamein kal raat sona chahiye tha

sui dhaga mohabbat ne diya tha

to kuchh sina pirona chahiye tha

hamara haal tum bhi puchhte ho

    tumhein malum hona chahiye tha

wafa majbur tum ko kar rahi thi

to phir majbur hona chahiye tha
