zindagī husn se ta.abīr bhī ho saktī thī
chāñdnī dasht pe tahrīr bhī ho saktī thī
be-bas jāda-e-pur-ḳhār pe laa.ī mujh ko
bebasī paañv kī zanjīr bhī ho saktī thī
ek āvāz-e-tilismāt meñ Duubī āvāz
aisī āvāz ki tasvīr bhī ho saktī thī
ek saaya pas-e-dīvār bhī lahrātā thā
sansanī itnī hama-gīr bhī ho saktī thī
bhāgte bhāgte sab rañg sameTe ham ne
vaqt kā pher hai tāḳhīr bhī ho saktī thī
