aawara-gard lamhe
āvāra-gard lamhe yuuñ be-qarār bhaTkeñ
jaise parind pyāse dīvāna-vār bhaTkeñ
be-jān-o-be-takallum ik aarzū hai tanhā
jañgal meñ jaise koī vīrān sī imārat
bastī se duur jaise ḳhāmoshiyoñ kā parbat
taane khaḌā ho ḳhud ko jāmid sadī kī sūrat
ehsās apnī lau par yuuñ tamtamā.e jaise
sho.aloñ pe chal rahā ho ik be-libās jogī
kahtī hai aql ham ko jalvat-pasand rogī
kyā sādhūoñ meñ aisī jvālā jagī na hogī
aksar sameTte haiñ bikhre hue junūñ ko
ham log aaj bhī haiñ kis darja nā-mukammal
shaitāñ sifat sharāre oḌhe dhueñ ke kambal
doshīzgī ġham ko jhulsā.eñ jab musalsal
chiñghāḌtī haiñ sāñseñ sīnoñ meñ be-tahāshā
jaise aziim insāñ pāmāl ho gayā ho
jaise har ek luT kar kañgāl ho gayā ho
ik muḳhtasar sā pal bhī sad saal ho gayā ho
ajgar guphā meñ leTā shīrīniyāñ chabā.e
aur ham ye sūkhe patte ab tak baTorte haiñ
aawara-gard lamhe yun be-qarar bhaTken
jaise parind pyase diwana-war bhaTken
be-jaan-o-be-takallum ek aarzu hai tanha
jangal mein jaise koi viran si imarat
basti se dur jaise KHamoshiyon ka parbat
tane khaDa ho KHud ko jamid sadi ki surat
ehsas apni lau par yun tamtamae jaise
shoalon pe chal raha ho ek be-libas jogi
kahti hai aql hum ko jalwat-pasand rogi
kya sadhuon mein aisi jwala jagi na hogi
aksar sameTte hain bikhre hue junun ko
hum log aaj bhi hain kis darja na-mukammal
shaitan sifat sharare oDhe dhuen ke kambal
doshizgi gham ko jhulsaen jab musalsal
chinghaDti hain sansen sinon mein be-tahasha
jaise azim insan pamal ho gaya ho
jaise har ek luT kar kangal ho gaya ho
ek muKHtasar sa pal bhi sad sal ho gaya ho
ajgar gupha mein leTa shiriniyan chabae
aur hum ye sukhe patte ab tak baTorte hain
