maġhmūm patiñgā jhuum uThā
hañste hañste raat kaTegī
sub.h huī
aur sab ne dekhā
raakh patiñge kī uḌ uḌ kar
sham.a ko har sū DhūñD rahī thī
ek patinga
tanha tanha!
sham Dhale is fikr mein tha
ye tanhai kaise kaTegi?

aur shama jali
maghmum patinga jhum uTha
hanste hanste raat kaTegi
subh hui
aur sab ne dekha
rakh patinge ki uD uD kar
shama ko har su DhunD rahi thi
