    yuuñ to har shā.ir fitrat meñ hai kuchh dīvāngī

    ġhair zimmedāriyāñ haiñ us juzv-e-zindagī

    arz-e-sheristān meñ ye shā.irāna ḳhāsiyat

    cancer tarah se jab phailne baḌhne lagī

    muḳhtalif schōl jab jañgī akhāḌe ban ga.e

    fikr-o-fan meñ jab nirājī kaifiyat paidā huī

    mumlikat meñ zābta koī na jab baaqī rahā

    har jagah qānūn hone lagī be-hurmatī

    ek ik tuk-band ustādoñ ke muñh aane lagā

    likh ke sub.h-o-shām nazmeñ be-tukī se be-tukī

    kūḌe-karkaT tarah har nazar aane lageñ

    Dheriyāñ Dheriyāñ dīvān-e-ḳhās-o-ām

    had to ye hai ahl-e-machhlī-shahr bhī karne lage

    māhī-gīrī chhoḌ kar din raat fikr-e-shā.irī

    jin se bohrān-e-ġhizā state meñ paidā huā

    qaht-e-māhī se baḌhī har chaar jānib bhuk-marī

    chand qaumī dard rakhne vaale ahlurrā.e se

    qaum nā-gufta-ba-hālat na jab dekhī ga.ī

    ek dastūr-ul-amal tayyār karne ke liye

    ik kametī 'amn'-sāhab sadārat meñ banī

    taaki is par chal ke nazm-o-zabt aa.e qaum meñ

    taaki kuchh to mo.atadil ho shā.iroñ zindagī

    dūsre kāmoñ meñ bhī qaumī energy sarf ho

    tuk faroshī ke alāva bhī to maqsad ho koī

    daur-e-'aflātūn'-o-'tulsī-das' se 'iqbāl' tak

    history kal shā.iroñ is kametī ne paḌhī

    dūsre mulkoñ ke ā.īn-o-zavābit meñ jahāñ

    jo munāsib baat thī vo chhāñT kar rakh ga.ī

    raat din saḳht mehnat aur jāñ-sozī ke ba.ad

    is kametī ne report apnī bil-āḳhir pesh

    ḳhāka-e-dastūr-e-qaumī ya.anī vo she.rī report

    'amn'-sāhab ne raqam thī ba-sinf-e-masnavī

    is pe rā.e-āmma ma.alūm karne ke liye

    shā.iroñ ko naql dastāvez bhejī ga.ī

    muḳhtalif ahl-e-suḳhan ne apne apne taur par

    raa.e dastūr meñ tarmīm tansīḳh

    masnavī meñ ḳhāmiyāñ DhūñDeñ zabāñ jā-ba-jā

    ek shā.ir ne jo the shāgird-e-nūh-nārvī

    saikḌoñ misre badal kar rakh diye kuchh is tarah

    nafs-e-mazmūñ nazr ho kar rah gayā islāh

    un kahnā thā ki bandish chust honī chāhiye

    sher ke andar balā se ho na fikrī tāzgī

    na.at-go hazrāt kahnā thā shā.ir ke liye

    shart avval hai ki ho jaa.e vo kaTTar maz.habī

    āqibat baat soche aur munājāteñ likhe

    us ke jan meñ kār-āmad shā.irī hai bas vahī

    aise shā.ir jo ki haamī the taraqqī-vād ke

    in kahnā thā ki shā.ir suḳhan ho maqsadī

    ya.anī pahle se muqarrar-karda mauzuāt par

    mumlikat meñ aam jaa.e shu.ūrī shā.irī

    ḳhvāh sheristān meñ is na ho koī vajūd

    lāziman dikhlā.ī jaa.e kashmakash tabqāt

    ik qabīla jo muḳhālif thā shu.ūrī fikr

    thā taraqqī-vādiyoñ se jis ko buġhz-e-lillāhī

    is qabīle ye kahnā thā ki shā.ir kalām

    lāziman ho ik muamma qaid-e-ma.anī se barī

    jis ko shā.ir ḳhud na samjhe nazm kar lene ke ba.ad

    jis ko paḌh kar gum ho aql-e-maulvī-e-ma.anavī

    dekh kar dastūr meñ nazm-o-nasq tazkira

    saḳht barham ho ga.e kul shā.irān-e-naksalī

    in nukta thā ki shā.ir fitratan āzād hai

    us pe lag saktī nahīñ pābandiyāñ tanzīm

    zindagī meñ zābta laane ke bilkul the ḳhilāf

    saath naksal-vādiyoñ ke dūsre hazrāt bhī

    muḳhtasar ye hai ki sab ne rad kiyā dastūr ko

    saarī mehnat 'amn'-sāhab akārat ho ga.ī

    dekh kar nā-āqibat andeshī-e-ahl-e-suḳhan

    is tarah goyā huī un mohazzab ḳhāmushī

    meñDakoñ ko taulnā āsāñ nahīñ hai jis tarah

    shā.iroñ ko bhī munazzam karnā mushkil hai yūñhī

    yun to har shair ki fitrat mein hai kuchh diwangi

    ghair zimmedariyan hain us ki juzw-e-zindagi

    arz-e-sheristan mein ye shairana KHasiyat

    cancer ki tarah se jab phailne baDhne lagi

    muKHtalif school jab jangi akhaDe ban gae

    fikr-o-fan mein jab niraji kaifiyat paida hui

    mumlikat mein zabta koi na jab baqi raha

    har jagah qanun ki hone lagi be-hurmati

    ek ek tuk-band ustadon ke munh aane laga

    likh ke subh-o-sham nazmen be-tuki se be-tuki

    kuDe-karkaT ki tarah har su nazar aane lagen

    taki kuchh to moatadil ho shairon ki zindagi

    dusre kaamon mein bhi qaumi energy sarf ho

    tuk faroshi ke alawa bhi to maqsad ho koi

    daur-e-'aflatun'-o-'tulsi-das' se 'iqbaal' tak

    history kal shairon ki is kameti ne paDhi

    dusre mulkon ke aain-o-zawabit mein jahan

    jo munasib baat thi wo chhanT kar rakh li gai

    raat din ki saKHt mehnat aur jaan-sozi ke baad

    ek shair ne jo the shagird-e-nuh-narwi

    saikDon misre badal kar rakh diye kuchh is tarah

    nafs-e-mazmun nazr ho kar rah gaya islah ki

    un ka kahna tha ki bandish chust honi chahiye

    sher ke andar bala se ho na fikri tazgi

    nat-go hazraat ka kahna tha shair ke liye

    shart awwal hai ki ho jae wo kaTTar mazhabi

    aaqibat ki baat soche aur munajaten likhe

    us ke jan mein kar-amad shairi hai bas wahi

    aise shair jo ki hami the taraqqi-wad ke

    in ka kahna tha ki shair ka suKHan ho maqsadi

    yani pahle se muqarrar-karda mauzuat par

    mumlikat mein aam ki jae shuuri shairi

    KHwah sheristan mein is ka na ho koi wajud

    laziman dikhlai jae kashmakash tabqat ki

    ek qabila jo muKHalif tha shuuri fikr ka

    tha taraqqi-wadiyon se jis ko bughz-e-lillahi

    is qabile ka ye kahna tha ki shair ka kalam

    laziman ho ek muamma qaid-e-mani se bari

    jis ko shair KHud na samjhe nazm kar lene ke baad

    jis ko paDh kar gum ho aql-e-maulwi-e-manawi

    dekh kar dastur mein nazm-o-nasq ka tazkira

    saKHt barham ho gae kul shairan-e-naksali

    in ka nukta tha ki shair fitratan aazad hai

    us pe lag sakti nahin pabandiyan tanzim ki

    zindagi mein zabta lane ke bilkul the KHilaf

    sath naksal-wadiyon ke dusre hazraat bhi

    muKHtasar ye hai ki sab ne rad kiya dastur ko

    sari mehnat 'amn'-sahab ki akarat ho gai

    dekh kar na-aqibat andeshi-e-ahl-e-suKHan

    is tarah goya hui un ki mohazzab KHamushi

    meinDakon ko taulna aasan nahin hai jis tarah

    shairon ko bhi munazzam karna mushkil hai yunhi
